the last poet society is dedicated to uplifting, inspiring, platforming, and educating poets of color, women, the youth, and the lgbtqia+ community. we are committed to the revival of the poetic genre and it's power to enrich minds, deepen souls, and enhance emotional intelligence.

about me
nakayla monét (she/her) is a poet (written and spoken word), writer, and educator from atlanta, georgia. she currently resides in virginia with her wife, twin boys, two dogs, and bearded dragon. she has her bachelor's in english from american military university and her master's in english and creative writing with a poetry concentration from southern new hampshire university.

nakayla has been writing since she was a teenager, has composed 5 full unreleased poetry collections, has been published in both print and digitally, and is currently a staff writer for atlanta based lifestyle and art magazine, flurry lifestyle. nakayla is a skilled writer, educator, planner, and organizer with dreams to become a professional wedding vow writer and curriculum designer beyond her current career aspirations. her poetic influences include reyna biddy, bell hooks, warsan shire, salima rivera, amy winehouse, and nikki giovanni.
